This Rock Candle is made from a fish fossil from Wyoming. This interesting, unique piece of home decor features two different fish - the smaller one is a Phareodus, a predator related to the modern day Arowanas. The larger fish is a Diplomystus, a distant cousin of present day herrings or sardines. Not only is this a great looking piece, it would be a great conversation piece and centerpiece for your home. A small bottle of lamp oil is included so the candle can be used the moment it is received.
Huge lakes covered parts of Southwest Wyoming about 50 million years ago during what is known as the Eocene period. Fine grained sediments collected at the bottom of these lakes that preserved the fossils of millions of fish. Over time, these sediments turned to stone resulting in the fish fossil.
