Rock oil candle - Orthoceras fossil

A unique oil lamp made from an orthoceras fossil creating a memorable home decor.

This rock oil candle is crafted with a reservoir permanently attached to the underside to hold the oil and as you can see in the photos is hardly visible. The outer surface of the rock as been highly polished, allowing the reflection of the flame to "dance" off of its surface.

To help ensure the longevity of your rock oil lamp, we've taken the extra step of treating all surfaces with several coats of sealant to prevent oil from seeping into the rock.

All of our Rock Oil Lamps also include a fiberglass wick that won't burn down, never needing replacing.

This fiberglass wick is held in place with a glass wick holder. Adding a few drops of your favorite scented oil onto this glass holder allows it to become an oil diffuser so you can fill your space with your favorite aromas.

When filled with a high quality lamp oil, it will produce a nearly smokeless, odorless "candle-sized" flame that will burn for at least three hours. Depending on the oil used, even our smallest reservoirs, measuring only 1 fl. oz., have had a single oil lamp fill-up last for over 7 hours! In this case, we used Firefly "Safe & Green" oil.

Filling the lamp is a simple process:
1) Remove the wick assembly from the rock
2) Insert the funnel we've provided into the hole where the wick came from
3) Fill with a high-quality paraffin wax oil.
4) Reinsert the wick and allow a couple of minutes for the wick to "wick" the oil.
5) Light and enjoy!
