Petrified wood specimen in a metal stand
A beautiful petrified wood slab in a metal display stand. The item in the photos is exactly the piece you will receive. See pix for the size.
As you can see, the mineralization of this piece has nicely preserved the detail of the wood. Just look at the textures in the slab and the bark detail on the edges.
A metal stand and specimen grade putty (like poster putty but for rocks) are included to allow the specimen to be displayed as soon as it is received.
The specimen will be removed from the stand for shipment for easy re-assembly upon your receipt.
** shipping included to US addresses **
Petrified wood, or fossil wood forms when trees fall and are then buried by sediment thereby protected from decay from exposure to oxygen and organisms. Then groundwater rich in dissolved solids flows through the sediment, and replaces original plant material with silica, calcite, pyrite, or another inorganic material. The result is a fossil of the original woody material that often exhibits preserved details of the bark, wood, and cellular structures.
