Orthoceras fossil tower, fossil cephalopod

Orthoceras tower specimen from Morocco, with a flat bottom so it will stand on its own.

This is a really unique piece with interesting shapes carving into it and features a lot of beautiful white calcite. Check the pix to see for yourself!

As seen in these pictures, Orthoceras fossils are often found in a black limestone matrix, with the soft tissues of the ancient squid-like creature replaced with calcite.
