A beautiful, one-of-a-kind oil lamp made from a beautiful Uruguayan amethyst cluster with a really cool calcite inclusion. The result is a memorable, one-of-a-kind home decor item.
Amethyst is a variety of quartz and its chemical makeup is composed of silicon dioxide. Quartz is formed in lava cavities, after gas bubbles become trapped once the lava cools and solidifies, allowing crystals to form inside. When the cavities are filled with a silica-rich liquid that contains trace amounts of iron, crystals begin to form within the cavity. Over time, the crystals are naturally irradiated, creating a reaction with the trace iron in the crystals causing them to turn purple.
