This rock candle / oil lamp is made from a sliced and polished piece of UTAH septarian nodule.
The lamp is crafted with a reservoir recessed into the underside of the rock to hold the oil and is hardly visible. When filled with a high quality paraffin oil it produces a nearly smokeless, odorless "candle-sized" flame that will burn for at least three hours.
Filling the lamp is a simple process:
1) Remove the wick assembly from the rock
2) Insert the funnel we've provided into the hole where the wick came from
3) Fill with a high-quality paraffin wax oil.
4) Reinsert the wick and allow a couple of minutes for the wick to "wick" the oil.
5) Light and enjoy!
We've also built all of our Rock Oil Lamps to be sealed on the underside to prevent oil from seeping into the rock, and we also feature a fiberglass wick that won't burn down, never needing replacement
Funnel to aid in filling included.

To add fragrance to the lamp, simply add a couple of drops of your favorite scented oik on the glass wick holder. As the flame heats the holder, the scented oil is diffused.
Septarian nodules were formed during the Cretaceous period, 50 to 70 million years ago when the Gulf of Mexico reached what is now Southern Utah. Decomposing sea life killed by volcanic eruptions had a chemical attraction for the sediment around them, forming mud balls. As the ocean receded, the balls were left to dry and crack. Because of their bentonite (or clay) content they also shrank at the same time, trapping the cracks inside. As decomposed calcite from the shells was carried down into the cracks in the mud balls, calcite crystals formed. A thin wall of calcite was transformed into aragonite separating the bentonite heavy clay exteriors from the calcite centers. Because of this, the nodules are called septarians.
Septarians are composed of Calcite (The Yellow Centers), Aragonite (The Brown Lines) and the Outer Grey Rock is Limestone. Occasionally the fossil or some of the fossils which started the formation of the rock is noticeable in the rock.
As a grounding stone, Septarian allows for better tolerance and patience, as well as emotional flexibility. It can gauge the underlying cause of an illness when meditated upon, and focuses the body into healing itself. Septarian can absorb your energy when held over a period of time and transmits that energy into strength when needed.
